Terri Barnes

As a writer, book editor, and writing coach, I get to spend a lot of my time writing, reading books, and working with other writers. All dream jobs for this bookworm.

I’ve been fascinated with words and reading as long as I can remember, building secret libraries under my bed or in attic corners, creating childhood newspapers, or just spending hours with my nose in a book. (Thanks, Mom!) So, naturally, the career path that brought me to writing and editing books began with a journalism degree at Baylor University (Sic ‘em, Bears!) and newsroom experience as a reporter, editor, and columnist.

My husband Mark and I have three grown children, who grew up all over the globe in our thirty years as an Air Force family. We’ve lived in a dozen states, two countries overseas, and one U.S. Territory. I am also a military brat (Thanks to Dad!) so add a few more states to that list for me. I enjoy seeing the world, and I also like to view life from my own front porch or fireside—both of which are now located in Summerville, South Carolina.

My favorite things are good stories, good coffee, and (saving the best for last) spending time with my family. I combine all of the above whenever possible.
